The challenge
The site experienced nuisance tripping in 2014. The client wanted to reduce maintenance time and cost while maintaining safe working practices and addressing electrical safety requirements.
Our approach
- Conducted thermography surveys of electrical panels once or twice a year, with analysis by an ITC Level 1 thermographer.
- Performed an arc flash analysis in 2015, with subsequent reviews every five years and after capacity expansion.
- Issued detailed reports with prioritised recommendations after each survey.
The outcome
The case records a working relationship of more than eight years and a reported ten-year breakdown-free operating history. In the recorded survey, 273 panel feeders were inspected: 253 were classified healthy, 4 warning and 16 unhealthy. Each finding had a recommended action. These survey results relate to the recorded inspection, not a current condition statement.
What this means for the owner
Repeated condition surveys and documented actions help the operator maintain visibility of asset health as the electrical system changes.
