The challenge

A pharmaceutical plant had experienced repeated tripping and blackouts for two years. The internal team could not establish the cause, and missing drawings and records made assessment more difficult.

Our approach

  • Verified 30 existing documents and prepared missing as-built records, including the load list, single-line diagram, lightning protection and earthing layouts.
  • Combined site inspection and discussions with the operations and maintenance team in an electrical safety audit.
  • Completed the 12 required periodic asset-condition tests, including a power-quality audit and earthing-system health assessment.

The outcome

Documents needing preparation or update reduced from 11 of 30 to 1 of 30. The hazardous-area classification layout remained outstanding. Periodic test coverage improved from 4 of 12 to 12 of 12. Recommendations prioritised lightning protection, the remaining hazardous-area layout, panel maintenance, corrosion and switchyard vegetation.

What this means for the owner

Reliable drawings, complete test records and a prioritised action list give the owner a clearer basis for managing electrical risk.
