Shadow Analysis and Yield Estimation of a 0.98 MWp Solar Plant.
Near-shading analysis and yield estimation to set realistic generation expectations before the plant was built.
The Situation.
Before building a 0.98 MWp grid-connected plant on a fixed land area, the Client wanted a yield estimate they could rely on. Estimates are often inflated by optimistic loss assumptions and unreliable shading values.
What We Did.
- Site coordinates and Meteonorm data set up in PVsyst
- Tilt and pitch optimised by iterative far-shading simulation
- String and parallel configuration optimised for maximum output
- Realistic detailed losses defined: DC and AC wiring, module quality, LID, auxiliary and night consumption
- Near-shading model with fencing, lighting poles and lightning arresters, checked on the shortest and longest days
The Result.
- Tilt, pitch and string configuration for maximum yield on the available land
- Annual energy, system losses and performance ratio estimated with realistic assumptions
- A design basis the Client could take into detailed design
